RAID 1 Software on 2 drive IDE dedicated server

Any suggestions for the best solution out there currently for a remote install with a dedicated ev1 server with 2 ide hard drives?

Is there any advantage of doing this over just rsyncing (don't really have that much to rsync) to my computer at home?

In other words, if a drive fails with software raid, what's the chance of still chugging along?

Any advice is appreciated, as while I'm familar with hardware raid I'm a little out of date on software raid..
