Security while showing a direct link

I have a Server with clients files stored in their own folders. The client is to get a url that points to their file. (e.g. [123.432.456.675...]

Yes, I can do this. But what worries me is the security issue. How do I stop them froming viewing other peoples files in the same folder? Also, how do I have a username/password set up for each client? Can I do this for each clients folder and restrict them to viewing only their folder?

In an ideal world, this needs to be automated by a script but any help would be appreciated!
