Is this an Email Harvester in Disguise?

A friend's wife bought an email program from an overseas company because the program has a big selection of icons to dress up her emails with.

I noticed that the icons all have 20+ character file names containing numbers and letters that look like tracking id's to me. However, when I send the email containing the icons back to him, the icon's file name has changed back to a simple *****.gif name.

I checked to see if my Outlook Express was assigning these file names but it wasn't.

2 Questions:

If these tracking id's were there in order to expose someone using the icon without paying, why does the tracking number get removed when I send the email back to him (both create an email from scratch and forward)?

And is it possible that this lovely little program is an email harvaster in disguise?
