I have a client wanting a new membership based site built. Needs to handle 1,000 members minimum, be exapandable to 5,000+, and allow members to manage their own profile, including uploading 5 images each. Second requirement is internal email similar in function to WebmasterWorld.

Software recommendations? I've clearly explained those areas where I have concern about my own skills, but the client specifically wants me anyway.

What sort of site will this be? A forum-posts basis, with personal albums? A members-only programmer-uploads site with screen-shots?

phpBB/phpNuke would cover some of the requirements, including the email function....

Or maybe you can get Brett to let you have a copy of the system here!

Forums will probably be added in the second phase of development. The site is being bult as a central meeting point for members who might then contact each other directly. The membership/profiles/images/contact is the focus of the first phase.

A do this all in Zope/CMF (zope.org). I don't have 1,000 members, but have over 150 members and over 1,000 registered guests.
