Having multiples nameservers

I'm trying to tranfer one of my sites from one server to another. I would still have control over both servers. So what would happen if I include 4 nameservers for the domain (2 from the old one and 2 from the new one). What server would be used when a user visits the site? and will this cause any downtime as in a typical nameserver change? Thanks for your help.

When you specify multiple DNS servers in the domain registration, there's no telling which one will actually be used.

But it's probably not necessary. As long as the new host is set up correctly, and both servers are serving your pages, you can change the DNS servers from the old host to the new, and there won't be any downtime.
