Recommendations for Blog System

We are exploring various options for integrating blog technology ...

We have a Web site with a home page that has several areas that are updated on a daily basis by individuals in various locations. Right now we use a cumbersome combination of CGI scripting and server side includes to push content to the page but we're seriously considering integrating blog techology instead. We were considering Moveable Type but are somewhat put off by the fact that MT has moved away from the open source realm. We're now looking closely at B2evolution. We are a moderate size non-profit so cost is a concern to us.

Does anyone have any insight into what the best option might be for us? What publishing system do you use? We host our own Web sites and will be installing the blog software on our Apache Web server.

Here are the main features that we are looking for:
- Simple user interface for content providers
- Automatic archiving
- Ability to push several different blog areas to the one page
- Web standards compliant
- Good support and documentation

First off MT was never open source.

I use MT as a blog on some sites, and I've used MT as a background CMS. I've paid for commercial licenses for some sites, and their rates are reasonable.

MT has all of the features you're asking for. If you're looking for something free they do have a free option if you qualify.

Thanks Bill for your reply. I'll look into the MT free option.

Does anyone else have experience with B2evolution or similar publishing systems?

I'm in much the same boat as webbguy and came in here looking for a similar answer - anyone have any suggestions?

MT sounds good but was wondering if there's anything to compare to?
