I think either I'm being thick and looking in the wrong places or it doesnt exist at a sensible price!

I'm after hosting for about 50 or 60 websites at present all with unique IP's and hosted in UK.

One method suggested was a managed server and add new IP's at £50 per domain.....so...£350 per month for server plus £50 per IP......OUCH.

Can anyone help me?

Cheers, Tom.

Most places you can get a dedicated server will give you a new ip for maybe £1.50 a month. The problem will be justifying all these additional addresses to RIPE. They no longer really accept the fact you need a new ip for each site. However if you wanted you could always say something like you need them as staging servers for lots of clients where they won't have a domain name yet, you need to run some mail servers etc. I have never seen them come back later after checking up on you.

btw, it was DSVR who quoted me the above!

the chap did mention the allocation of IP's was "regulated" . but that price is mental!

I didn't think RIPE allowed people to charge for IP address as such.

From:
[ripe.net...]

Thus, while registries may charge for their administrative and technical services, they may not charge for name space or address space as such; no unit cost or price tag can be attached to a domain name or to an IP address, public or private.

The colo services I have looked at in London have all said they charged say £10-15 one-off admin charge for extra IPs, assuming you can justify the need to RIPE. Hosting websites does not need more than one IP number.
