Hello,

I am currently running a name-based server which runs on 1 IP address. I have a Thawte certificate installed on one of the domains and everything is working fine.

I would like to add another certificate to a different domain. It will probably be self-signed. Is this possible in name-based hosting? I'd like to have:

[secure.domain1.com...]

as well as

[secure.domain2.com...]

It's one IP to a cert. There's not really a way to do it, I looked into the same thing several months ago and found that it was far easier to set-up another IP/server/account.

Here's a couple of links I found useful in answering the question: modssl faq [modssl.org] and this discussion at devshed [forums.devshed.com]

Not what you wanted to hear, but hope it helps anyhow.

Thanks for your help and the pointers. My understanding of certs is that they are tied to a specific domain name, not IP address. So, my cert for secure.domain1.com would still be valid, even if I changed IP addresses. Am I wrong about this?

The cert is valid, but you can only use one at a time on one ip.
