When I send out an e-mail I notice in my SMTP log: 250-lsh104.example1.com Hello example2.com [64.X7.11.169] (may be forged), pleased to meet you. (example1 was the old hosting company - changed about three weeks ago.)

There does not seem to be any PTR records listed in the DNSStuff website.

I called the data center and they said: I added 169 IN PTR example2.com.

What else needs to be done so that my IP address does not look forged?

Thanks!

In order to not appear forged, I believe that the address has to resolve in both directions.

So if your server, example2.com, is 10.10.10.169, then adding a 169 IN PTR example2.com should do it. It may take a day or two for it to take effect, as reverse records sometimes have a longer TTL than forward records.

The data center said they had done this. Just not too sure if it is caching at the hosting company I am tying to send the e-mails out to
