Force file to download not open?

want link to download a file and not open it in the browser

I have a load of pdf files which I want users to be able to download. Unfortunatley some browsers will run the application and open the file in the browser..i want to avoid this!

Any ideas? I know that i can zip it but i dont want to complicate things!

I'm afraid this is beyond your control. I think you'll have to either zip it or explain on your pages how to save it.

Give them instructions. "To save, right click... Chose Save As..."
