Worldmap from IP of visitors?

anything out there does this already?

Are there any free or shareware programs out there that can take a list of IPs (a raw log file would be a big plus) and graph a worldmap from it (pinpoints)?

Or for that matter a list of zipcodes from a USA mailing list?

Having a hard time finding such a creature and I've got to believe can't be such an uncommon desire?

Thanks for any help...

It would certainly be useful for a quick visual representation of traffic incoming!

As far as i am aware, i know of no such map that is in the public domain!

It does exist. I just can't remember where.

I found a complex perl module on cpan [search.cpan.org] to do something close, here's a demo [astray.com] but it's much more work than I want to do ;)

There has to be an easier (offline) program....?

you can try geobyte$.com as well as searching for 'IP world map software' and variations of it.

This might be a possible service( I am not sure of availability or accuracy though).

[jan.kneschke.de...]

Here is a sample of what they have on their website:

There is even a phpOpenTracker (http://phpopentracker.de) plugin to do these reports if you are using that tracking system.

Any other ideas on this? I haven't been too satisfied with what I have found so far...

Do a google search for "ip to country" (no quotes), the top site has a free DB which could be used.

Thanks, that search phrase was particularly handy, found answers in perl and php for matching countries. Now to just find a way to map them geographically...
