I am thinking about switching my reseller account to a different hosting company but now I will need to contact all my clients and have them change their DNS.
If I had a private label DNS would that allow my clients to always point their DNS to ns1.mydoamin.com and then no matter what server my reseller account was on their domain information would always be the same?
Thanks,
Rich
You should be looking to change the A Name records to the new IP but to ensure downtime is minimised / eliminated I suggest that you place a copy of the sites on the new server whilst still keeping the old sites alive.
Once happy reduce the Time To Live (TTL) in the DNS for the old server to a low number. Probably 5 minutes or so.
Give it a day or so to propogate around the internet then make the IP changes in the DNS to the new server and wait another couple of days for that to propogate around the world.
You should be safe in having no downtime for your clients this way :D
