Hi,not sure where to post this, so i've put it in here.

You all know those search engines that offer alternate engine results and they use different tabs like "Google" "Altavista" "Etc" and when you click on them they show you the results of that search engine.

I really want this for my own site badly.
Now, Where do i start?
What things do i need to purchase?
I assume this is legal to do right?
Thanks in advance for any usefull info.

Are you wanting to display the results on your own site or simply redirect to the results page on the other search engine?

Aren't they simply links direct to the query results page for each of the search engines.

If somebody has searched for "widgets" on your site; you can dynamically generate a link directly to Google's results for "widgets" just by linking directly to Google's results page as follows:

http://www.google.com/search?q=widgets

Providing that you allow the link to open in a new window; or exclusively within the current window I can't see Google or any other search engine having a problem with you doing that - things will only get murky if you start trying to present the results as if they were your own.

To do the same thing with other search engines, just perform a test search and look at the address in your browser to see what you have to link to - simply replacing your test word with whatever word you wish to search on.

best mothod will be to use XMl to parse the different engines results into your site.

Various engines supply a feed that you can use. Most of the ppc engines offer affiliate programs where you can display their results in exchange for profit share. The non ppc engines usualy require a fee to use their services in this way.

It might be worth while having a look at the Google web api.

There is a ready to run script to use with the Gogle API. You can find it on hotscripts.com

I think it was called "Google on your site"

I used it on one of my sites for a while. worked ok.
