Cute FTP problem

Hello, I hope I am posting this in the right Forum.

I am a Newbie so Please Be Gentle.

I am using Cute FTP to upload changes to my website. This was set-up for me & up until now has worked fine.

Previously when I opened CuteFTP, my FrontPage website was on the left side & my actual website was on the right & I would simply drag any changes from the left to the right that I had made in FP.

For some reason when I open CuteFTP now it no longer shows my FP files on the left but instead my computer directory. I have tried to open FP from that directory but when I do it just uploads FP program to my site.

How do I get my FP website files back on the left side?

Thank You

Hi Casey,

Welcome to WW.

I'm not sure I completely follow you there. Are you saying that you are unable to browse to your Html files from the left-hand pane within Cute?

All things being equal, you should be able to just navigate to the folder where your files are located and continue to drag and drop.

You can also go into Edit > Settings > and then go to the Directory Navigation in the listings and on the right hand side you'll see the option to change the default directory.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Frontpage usually keeps all web files under MyDocuments/MyWebs I believe. If you know how to
move around your harddrive files, you move around the same way for the left window in CuteFTP. Use the folder icon with up arrow until you have just c:\ in the upper left (one row) window ... then scroll down to MyDocuments, double click, scroll to MyWebs (or My Webs not sure which) and double click, then go into the folder where your site files are, then you will be ready to upload after connecting.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the respones.

I can't find where Front Page is keeping my Web Files. I have a folder called My Webs in My Documents but it is definately not my Web files.

How do I find the folder that FP is storing these pages in?

I occasionally use a Temp. Folder eraser program so mabe the folder was erased?

All my web files are still there when I open FP on my desktop.

Thanks again... I think I'm on the right track at least because before I was trying to open FP directly from CUTE.

If you know the name of any of the files, do a search for them from the Start > Search > Files or Folders

Another thought... I've never used FP, but when you open it, does it have a list of recently used files at the bottom of the 'File' menu? It should tell you the path to the files as well if it does.

To locate your files, you can also open FP and one of the site files, then save as and see where it takes you :)

Hello,

Thank You. Problem solved.

I found the FP files in C:/ directory using the methods given.

You people are very helpful.
