When I request my website for the first time in some period of time (not sure how long), lets say, first time a day - it is connecting for few seconds the first time and then all requests to the server are faster. What could cause this problem? DNS servers are slow?

moltar,

Are you sure it is not your local browser cache causing the speed improvement on second requests?

Try your test again, but flush your local caches first. You may find that it is always slow. :(

That would be bad news, but at least you would know.

The slow down is not when the page is loading. It is when it's connecting to the server. After the connect it is really fast.

I did the speed tests, I was downloading at 140kb/s and my friend at the same time at 350kb/s - 10MB file.

Surf to the site by IP, not the domain name, to see if it's a DNS lookup delay.

Great idea. I will do it tomorrow, because that happens only when I do not visit my site for a while. Usually overnight.
