Hi:

overwhelming my current box (celeron 1 gig, 1 gig memory, reg ide drives), so i am builing a new box... 2.4 gig Xeon, 2 gig mem, Raid 5 array. Site very dynamic, with a forum- all of which rely on mysql server by my isp.

Now that they- my isp- sees my new gear, they want me to host my own mysql dfatabase, too much strain on theirs. never run a mysql before...

How much will this add to my load? Shoulde i consider a new, seperate box dedicated to mysql (and if so, what do i want- lots of mem, i know, but how much? what kind of cpu? Go raid 5 again?) olr should i be able to serve pages and mysql pretty well on this new box?

You can run mySql on the new box without a problem.
