Hiya folks! :)

Im being forced at work to come up with a searchable DB on our widget site - not something ive dealt with before! :(

AFAIK, I can use Dreamweaver to create the site in ASP and it will be run on a MySQL DB.

I have plenty of experience with MS access, uploading ASP sites to host and related areas.

But Ive just never had to create a DB driven site from scratch or worked with MySQL.

What I would like to find is a tutorial that goes through using Dreamweaver (or another editor) to setup a DB driven site. In particular, a guide to setting up connections, explaining the basics, etc. Any suggestions?

Im pretty sure I can get to grips with it easy enough - and ive been meaning to do it for ages, just never had the time! :)

Im about to start on Dreamweavers own tutorial, but id appreciate any suggestions for decents resources by the experts! ;)

Cheers
Scott

The Dreamweaver tutorial is excellent. I also use the information from www.w3schools.com quite a bit for ASP.

Also check out www.4guysfromrolla.com and www.aspin.com for ASP resources.

I don't use DreamWeaver, but I have a few sites that are driven by Access. MsSql Server 2000 has a similar GUI as Access, but will be way faster and more stable.

My current setup is Win2k Server, IIS, MsSql Server and a few server components. I develop ASP using VbScript and FrontPage 2000 and get some great results. Simple setup with everything you need to get started and not too spendy.

Give me a holler if you have any questions.
