How fast should it be?

I am getting ready to move to an area that has serveral DSL and other higher speed options than the cable I am on now.

My thought is that I will host some of the smaller (non revenue producing) web sites to on-site hosting to save some cash. I have a 460ish mHz, 48mb RAM, 6gb HD, etc computer running linux right now and works great as a test server before I put my ecommerce site modifications out to public. Would this type of computer be adequate to host a few web sites off of? If not what about snagging a 2gHz eMachine. I know they are cheap (quality), but for $400-$500 I don't see a down side. Technology changes so fast that a high quality computer doesn't seem worth it if the use is non-vital. I keep my micron notebook for everything important, but would like the desktop for others to use and to host with.

IMO it is too weak to host websites to the world wide web especially because of the RAM!

But it would surely be a nice Router and Firewall.

A new machine should have lots of RAM and nice(fast) HDs if you want to use it as a Webserver.
