We are looking at improving the servers we currently have and are looking at configuration and back up for the new machines. (Especially thinking about total disaster recovery - from a devastating fire at the main server location for instance)

So I thought what be the ideal set-up.

My thoughts are along the line of

Server

Dual Processor (doesn't necessarily need to be top spec)
Memory - 1-2Gb (Th more the merrier really)
Raid 5 - Hot Swap SCSI Drives for redundancy.
Network Card? Min 100Mbit

Off Site Backup?

Mirrored Server at an alternate location?
Mirrored Disks at an alternate location?

The offsite backup and method of implementing cheaply has always bugged me.

Just drop a tape drive in one of the bays and I'd buy it.

Looks like a good config to me.
