Is there a portal or CMS forum in webmasterworld? I have a bulk of information to collect on systems, pricing, security, integration, deployment and above all any organizational/political issues. We are a higher education institution, enrollment 3,100 with no CIO. Thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld HollyKay,

Is there a portal or CMS forum in webmasterworld

this forum may be the most appropriate. Only thing is we don't really talk about specific products/sites (if that is what you are referring to). We tend to talk more in general about topics to help learn/educate people in a more constructive way and not promoting/bashing any one product/site.

I am sure there are many people who would be happy to share about those topics but just no specifics.

For a better understanding of what is allowed/discouraged you could look at the TOS [webmasterworld.com].

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Holly.

What kind of implementations will you be needing for the site, and would all of the applications need to be in one integrated system, or just interface well with each other?

Will there be intranet forums, areas where staff will upload information, etc.?

WELL since you asked, I have two needs. One is to create a better content structure for our main web and make it as easy as possible for my web editors to add content information without a lot of hassle. Currently everything is done through FrontPage.

My second needs revolves around integrating applications with our student records, alumni records, class schedules and smoothing (and securing) the application process online. My vision for seaming these together is a portal to interface with these systems to put the information in one spot for students in one area, alumni in another, and faculty in another.

I struggle with finding the right system at the right price that fits our needs, and how to handle organizational issues (higher ed loves committees) with a Web Advisory Group or the like.

I really want to move to more web based applications eventually for purchasing, planning and security reports.

WHEW!
