I'd love to see it! Unfortunately, I saw a similar article 3-4 years ago. This technology has existed for many years, for example, household loudspeaker systems that don't need direct wiring and use signals carried on a home's A/C lines.
Perhaps the better question is why isn't it being deployed? Those power grid engineers just don't know much about being an ISP I guess! :)
