There is an interactive module at the site of a national organization. I need to link to it so folks in my area can use it.
The module is designed so that access can only be gained through an official referral site. My site is one of these official sites.

national site: www.them.org
module location: www.them.org/folder/abc/abc.jsp

my local site: www.me.org
my page w/link: www.me.org/name.htm
My anchor text: word1 word2 word3
My hyperlink: www.them.org/folder/abc/abc.jsp

When I loaded up to the host and tried the link, I got a custom error page saying access is only allowed through specific referrers.

Arrgh! www.me.org IS one of the official referral sites and has been listed in them.org's database as such for six years.

I presume I am overlooking something rather simple. I've tried email etc. to them.org, but no responses so far.

me.org has existed for six years. It's been in their database as me.org for most of that time.

So here I sit knocking but I can't go in from www.me.org, because www.them.org is saying in effect "to come in here from your area, you must be referred here from me.org"
Well Duh, I know that, and I was.

So any suggestions on how I change the nametag so the bouncer will let me into the club?

<edited because too wordy before>

As a first step Iīd suggest you check whether it works when you give a valid referrer explicitly by talking directly to their server or by using your favorite tool or scripting language that lets you do that.

If that is working then check that your browser actually sends the referrer. On other usersīs machines there is little you can do since they control whether their browser sends a referrer or not.
