Hi!

Just by curiosity, anyone knows if it's difficult to create a custom toolbar for the visitors of my site? (like Google toolbar, yahoo toolbar, etc.).

I don't code for windows and don't code gui, but I'm pretty sure it's a mix of MFC with IE libs.

So basically, a bunch of classes, functions, and event handles (or hooks) that you build on top of.

To satisfy your curiosity, the answer is it isn't easy (which is why the web isn't swarming with them). Once you've done the work to get a base system, adding buttons isn't hard. But adding elements that need to read data off the web introduces some unique problems.

We've had one built for us - which I thought (in my naivity) would take a few days. A month and a half later the coder supplied the finished product having previously supplied a dozen or so different versions that had a dozen or so different problems!

Not as easy as you may think!

There is a toolbar that you can customize/cobrand and offer your clients called ultrabar.
