These guys [theopencd.org] put together a CD of quality open source applications for Windows users. It features practical alternative applications, the CD iso is available at several mirrors [theopencd.org].

Currently, the disc is aimed solidly at non-techies. The
primary audience is expected to consist mostly of people who
use computers regularly for their work, but are not power
users. This might be, for example, Jane from Accounting, who
spends a lot of time working on spreadsheets and checking her
email. She can find her way around the computer without too
much trouble, but wouldn't know a kernel from a TCP/IP stack.
By showing the benefits of Open Source Software to users
such as these, we hope to encourage its adoption -- in the
workplace, in schools, and by individuals.

The CD includes:
OpenOffice.org 1.0.1 ( does everything an office suite should do )
DictInstall 0.9.3.2
AbiWord 1.0.1 (nice little word processor)
Beonex Communicator 0.8.1 (read a branded Mozilla)
FileZilla 2.1.1
Putty 0.52
WinVNC 3.3.3r9 (like PCEnywhere)
XChat 1.8.10a
Audacity 1.0
CDex 1.40
7-Zip 2.24
NetTime 2.0b6
Win Privacy Tray 0.5.5
Sokoban YASC 1.53
Celestia 1.2.4

Is there any talk of an Open Source Win4Lin type program yet? Red Hat 7.1 is installed on my "spare" machine to get familiar but, like many, I can't live without some Windoze only applications.

Thanks for the link! I've been playing around with some of the apps, and Audacity is a nice little sound application. There are plenty of free plugins for it too.
