I started with the XML bible. I wasn't real happy with it. The wrox xml book(can't remember the exact name) was much better. The pocket reference from O'rielly was also nice for a couple of bucks.

korkus2000, I believe that you mean XML Applications by Frank Boumphrey et al.
I also use XML by Example (QUE) and XML and PHP (New Riders).
Lots of on-line resources too.

I have Professional Xml (Programmer to Programmer): 2nd Edition (Mark Birbeck - Editor) and have found it a consice and useful book (but not cheap!).

"XML in a Nutshell" published by O'Reilly I've found to be a useful day to day reference. The Wrox series are good as well.

Hi sorry for reply so late its just that I'm up to my eyes in work. I know the basics of xml but I need something that will take me step by step and then later I'll be able to use it as a reference book. So it has to be very comprehensive. I looking to develop a standard doc for a gov. department and I thought xml would be the way.
