Hi everyone, I need to emulate a very low speed connection to my server in local area network: like for instance let everyone donwload files and web-pages at 300 bytes per second... is it possible to do just configuring apache, or may be it is possible to write a kind of script in PHP? thanks beforehand!

Hey semya welcome to WebmasterWorld! :) We're not ignoring you, I promise! I saw your post yesterday and it's an interesting problem, thought about it throughout the day, to the point of digging thru my garage!

Take a look at bwshare [topology.org] and Mod_bandwidth [cohprog.com]. Both appear to offer bandwidth throttling features and both appear to be available at no cost.

I was digging in the garage to see if I still had that old 1200 baud modem around (I'm a packrat) so I could send it to you. ;)

Try [xat.com...]

WebSpeed Simulator is a Windows thing that you can set to act like any modem.

thanks guys thanks a lot! but when i downloaded mod_bandwidth it seemed to be suitable only for unix* os's, since in installation guide they told me that i had to recompile apache ;-/
anyway i'm now downloading web-simulator, hope it'll help, it seems to be the best way out in my situation...
thanks DaveAtIFG for proposal.... thanx! ;)

GREAT FORUMS...

yes websimulator is just what I was looking for, but does anyone know how to hide it into tray at least, or start as a service? thanks
