Web form to fax

Any experience with this?

I need to have a copy of a form faxed promptly after the visitor to my site submits his completed form.

The best I can come up with is to have the website e-mail a third party service who will then convert it to fax and send. The fax destination number will be determined by the content of the form.

Has anyone tried something like this? Am I overlooking an easier way?

Advice would be appreciated.

Have a look at TPC Fax [tpc.int] or OurFax [ourfax.com] - they do a service like this invloving a web form being used to send faxes. As far as I know they licence/sell the software.

I've never used it other than sending the odd fun fax, so I can't say much about it.

Hello BlobFisk,

Thank you for responding. I will check out the two services/software providers you suggested. Not very encouraging on my first try. Verrry slow loading of their info pages. No luck getting software details. I'll try again.

I've been using eFax for over a year and it works out pretty good.

Are these services secure enough to fax credit cards through?

I think the question is "web to fax" - not web to email.

I wonder what those high end restaurants use?

  • you go to their website,
  • order your to-go items,
  • they receive the order as a fax, and
  • you go pick it up.

Quinn raises a good point. I had only been looking to see what was out there in the way of existing services. I hadn't gotten into those details yet, but of course, I need a cc# protection level of security too.

I am actually quite surprised that this is not a commonly needed service. Surely there are many suppliers who prefer to be sent a hard copy, either for their system, or as a physical reminder that the product ordered needs to be promptly removed from their inventory records.

Not every supplier location is fully on-line, - yet.

Ipohopper and folks at tcpfax and ourfax - apologies. Your sites are probably working fine. Turns out that my isp has been having a hiccup this morning. I'll look again when things settle down here.

Has anyone had experience with any type of web to fax system in a business setting?

    I spotted on google

    www.callbackform.com
makes forms which can send the information
submitted on a form to a fax or
a phone (in addition to email.)

it is not exactly what you want cause the
fax or phone number is pre-registered,
not pulled from the customer, but its close...
