From within windows XP, when I use the find facility from within windows explorer, to search for files containing particular text, it will not list any .php files.

If I rename a .php to a .txt extension, the find works fine. Rename it back to .php and again it does not find the file containing the text.

I have tried associating .php with notepad, which has had no effect.

Any suggestions ( other than purchasing a unix box ;) )

I just tried the same on my xp box and it did find files written in php that contained a certain text. Are they hidden files or have you maybee altered your folder/file permissions?

What was the file location?

Permissions was the problem, for some reason! The files were set to read-only.

Glad you asked :)
