It has come to my attention that people can fill in a form using their language charachter set (like Chinese or Japanese) this then gets sent to us as unicode not as English.

Is there anyway to insist that the form automatically translates other languages into Enghlish instead of unicode
?

Also does anyone know where I can translate unicode?

Thank you.

Well, I'm not exactly on my hometurf here, but to me it looks like there are two concepts mingled. One is the encoding, the other language.

The pendant to Unicode would be ASCII, no extended characters etc.

So I gues what you need to know is if the entries from the form are transferred to ASCII?

Yes basically what I have discovered is that someone with ie Japanese setting on their computer can fill in forms in Japanese but once she clicks submit. It all for me the receiver gets converted to unicode.

Big problem. Do you know where I can get unicode translated?

When sending form data the browser uses the same encoding that is specified (either within that document or by means of a higher-level protocol setting) for the document that contains the form. This encoding may be overridden by using the form elements enctype attribute.

To translate text from one language to another use whatever translation service you want.

Visit Thailand this tool might help for Japanese...Enter the Unicode into the last form on this page [kanzaki.com] and it should convert for you. This page also has handy conversion for jibberish Japanese you might get via e-mail if the encoding isn't set properly.
