We are in the process of switching webservers. We use Windows 2000 on both machine and IIS.

I am trying to copy all the data from one to another. In IIS there is a backup/restore feature. Im trying to restore this data on the new machine, but as soon as it completes its restore process it screws up IIS, with errors. So i have to unistall and resintall ISS to get it working again (but none of the restored data is there) is there another way of doing this, or do I have to manually enter all the virtual directories and FTP directories by hand.

I am also tyring to find a way of copying all the user/password information to the new server too! computer manager/users (there are about 100 users) is there away to do this as I can only see a way to export as text file, but no means of importing

thankyou

Ah thanks richard, the way I was doing it you can only backup to the same machine, guess i need to use the IIS metabase editor.

cheers :)

OK,

Ive managed to import all the data into IIS (virtual directories)

But how can I import the users in 'Computer Management' ive exported a text file, but cannot see how to tranfer this into the console. Ive looked at something called addusers.exe but its above me :) and i think its for Windows NT not 2000 server.

This is pretty urgent so any help is appreciated

Hi,

Maybe try MySanity 2.0 here...

or this one...
