Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a powerful onsite search engine that can query databases and cope with intelligent synonym handling, spelling errors, etc.

Technology concerned is MYSQL on Linux.

you might want to have a look at Htdig. I havent had the chance to try it fully yet, although it is sometimes bundled with a linux distro.

Htdig is great and I have used in on several occasions, but there is also the rather strangely named mnogosearch (http://www.mnogosearch.org/), which apparently also runs on windows.

I've used DGS Search on several websites. I believe it has most (if not all) of what you're looking for.

If not, it's written in PHP so you can modify it if need be.

Best one I've seen is aspseek [aspseek.org] (freeware/oss/GPL).
