Getting package fail error

I am new to the SQL world but have run into a problem. I have an HP LH3000 server with plenty of RAM and Hard Drive space. I am running WIN 2K Advanced Server with SP3. This was a clean install. I then tried to load the MSDN copy of SQL 2000. I get all the way through the MDAC and get the following error:
Instalation of the Microsoft Access Componets Package fail (-1)

Dose anyone know what this means or what I may be doing wrong?

Welcome HHand!

Unfortunately I can't help you with SQL 2k, but you will probably find someone to help out over in the "Website Technology Issues" forum:

[webmasterworld.com...]

In fact this thread will probably be moved over there.

M$ offers an installed MDAC component checker here [microsoft.com] that may help you identify the problem. It's "designed to help you determine installed version information and diagnose installation issues with the Microsoft Data Access Components."

Thanks for all the help on this issue. I believe that the problem was with my MDAC. I udated my MDAC and tried the instalation over. This appeared to have resolved the problem.

The installation should check for minimum version required components...which I believe MDAC was one.
