Privacy Compromising Advertisers striking back

I was surfing this website just now, and I found out that that certain website uses a new software to prevent ad-blocker users from accessing certain parts of the site. The technology is called Anti-AdBlocker.

With this new technology, if a user goes to a website with this product with ad-blocker programmes enabled, it would block them from accessing these websites. Though the intention was well enough, I fear that the technology would be misused by privacy compromising companies like Gator, etc.

What's your take on this?

The site probably isn't worth visiting, find another site on the same topic.

I think many who use ad-blockers would see it that way too.

They'd end up on my permanent sh*t list. Just like sites that either a) require flash plugins, b) require cookies, or c) won't let me in because of the ancient browser listed in my (falsified) user-agent.

If they think this is going to cause those of us who use an ad-blocker to disable it just to view their site, they are sadly mistaken. The only difference between preventing access and allowing ad-free access is the amount of animosity generated by the former. :)
