Hi,

I'm planning to let a company access my webserver via ftp to uplooad text files.
This is fully-automatic, they just add my ftp details to their program. The feed runs during the day, at various times. Approx 20 files a day 5 days a week.

Anyone here done anything similar, any issues I need to be aweare of (apart from disk-space!)?

If I set a new site up with a virtual hosting co, would I need to tell them
about the feed?

No experince here, but I don't see any problems with this setup assuming you can trust the people accessing your server not to revise or wipe your web site. At 20 files a day, I wouldn't expect it to be of much interest to a new host either. Anyone have additional comments?

Most hosting accounts allow you to add ftp/telnet users to your account, that way they have their own password (not yours). Check with the host to make sure you can also limit the user to specific directories on the server. I wouldn't give them unfettered access to the whole site (could cause problems).

Have them put their stuff in their directory and link accordingly.
