Does anyone know if cloaking your images, Library Items, or Teplates folders causes any kind of problems?

Aaronjf,

I don't fully understand the question here.

AFAIK you don't need to post your template and library folders, but even so, why would you need to cloak them?

aaronjf,

Cloaking in Dreamweaver is not the same as the cloaking that is commonly discussed here. Quoth Dreamweaver: "Site cloaking enables you to exclude folders and file types in a site from operations such as Get or Put." This just keeps certain folders or file types from being transferred, like if I didn't want to move the .png files that are the source of my .gif files. Since we are talking about stuff that is not being transferred, there can be no problems.

For the other type of cloaking, start here:

The main reason I am cloaking folders on my site is to prevent people from getting into the images folders. I cloacked the other folders because I started noticing someone snooping around in them.

I know that the cloacking feature of Dreamweaver is not the same as the Cloacking commonly talked about in SEO and webmaster cirlcles. However, using this feature keeps people from being able to put in the URL of a particular folder. Doing so produces a 404.

I post the Library items and Templates as a backup meassure.

sean, thanks for the lead.... but I was talking about the DW feature not cloacking relative to SEs
