for now I think it's appropriate to list a few. But it shouldn't deteriorate into an endless list of commercials.
I had a lot of trouble with Webfusion. I mean a lot of trouble. They blamed it all on expansion and unable to cope with the demand.
The prices were hmmm, ok for a dedicated server but the last straw came when I asked them to upgrade the server with 128Mb of ram. At the time this stick of memory was retailing for less than a tenner, and yet thess guys wanted to charge me £40 A MONTH.
I moved to positive internet. I got a 3 x faster server at just slightly more per month. No problems with them at all.

That's who I use. You can check their reliability by checking out their site. Unfortunately, you can't get into their site at the moment. Nor any of their customers. And this happens regularly.
I am looking at more expensive options at the moment, such as Demon or Onyx. Anybody had any experience with these? I know of someone who used Demon with no problems at all in about two years.
P.S. diddlydazz, you don't mention how much you are willing/able to pay. Are you looking for dedicated or virtual hosting? People may be able to help you better if you give them more information.
They are reliable and I have had no problems. but I have been told when you do have problems you have a job making contact with them let alone getting it resolved.
I opened a new site a few months ago and decided to try another host f2s.com .for what you pay the service is good. They are not as busy as uk2 so I have no problems getting email response from them. They even called up to varify my card details so they seam to care about customer services.
they have a fairly good range of packages (from 2.95 a month for 25mb webspace / 0.5gb month band to 49.95 a month for 1gb webspace / 15gb month band).
The basic packages support FP2002, ASP, WAP, Access DB´s and as the packages get larger the features increase.
Im on the basic package for my small site and have had no problems (and their email support was surprisingly tollerant of my technical ignorance). Also their online mail management tool is pretty useful and payment options are flexible and can be managed online.
*****To be fair though, Ive only ever set up one website and dealt with one hosting service, so i really dont have a huge frame of reference on the matter! :)*****
