What do ya'll recommend as a method for user feedback that's safe? (and if at all possible - for those of us with non-commerical sites - free!)

Forms of course ;) You can set up a reasonably simple form with your email address as the action and have the data mailed to you.

As far as safetys concerned. Horses for courses, if it's a free host the above method is probably perfectly adequate.
