It seems PayPal gets high approval rates at WebmasterWorld. Has PayPal worked for you, or has something better come along?

ebay has alot of marginal people on it. Both buyer and sellers, I have never had a problem on my main site with paypal and have had a couple on ebay. With about a 20 to 1 sales ratio main site to ebay. I am a very small time seller on ebay, basicly it does not pay for me due to listing and response rates. My guess, relative to other merchant accounts, they are heavily in favor of the buyer. Not surprising given their business model. When was the last time you thought about the merchant account provider when you purchased on line. I am not sure how I would find out. bottom line, I intend to leave paypal eventually, (no hurry) because of lack of flexibility in their shopping cart. If you are selling a real product in an ethical manner your refused orders should be minimal regardless of your provider. However if someone was inclinded to take advantage of paypals "bais" it would be on ebay.

For those of you who offer both credit cards directly (Visa/MC/Amex..) as well as Paypal what percentage of your sales come via Paypal? I am wondering if it worth adding it. [Paypal would seem to have some advantages for buyers in that one's credit card number and expiration date is not being sent to the seller--lessening the risk of theft of the number.]

Since I already have a Paypal account, I always prefer paying Paypal over CC. No hassle with re-typing all your information over again each time you visit a new store.

Paypal what percentage of your sales come via Paypal?

For eBay transactions, I don't have an exact percentage but I'm confident its over 90% (closer to 99%) Paypal payment. For web store, its more mixed. I think it depends on your demographics and how tech "savvy" your customers are. I sell technology so I think I have a higher percentage of buyers using Paypal.

In terms of shopping carts, free remote services like Mal's offer integration of regular CC and Paypal, so one does not have to be limited by the amateurish Paypal shopping cart.
