Gif and background image problems

Hope this isn't too basic here...

I can't get netscape to recognize an animated gif on the website I'm putting together. I've placed it in the same file as the html page and nothing. I've used the path name to an images subdirectory, nothing. No problems either way with IE. Yet if I open the gif with netscape at home, it displays it no problem. The URL is ...

www.dnabrewery.com

if someone is willing to check out the source code. Also on a message board I've implemented, I can't get the darn thing to recognize a jpg to use as a background! I used a test page in the same folder and it used the jpg as a background no problem. What gives? That url is...

www.dnabrewery.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

Thanks in Advance anyone.

I'm guessing its the spaces in the filename try referring to it as <img src="dna%20animated%20gif.gif">.

yup - my money would be on the spaces as well. Netscape doesn't like spaces at all.

Thanks Perlyking, that was it. Gif is going in netscape now and I've learned something new. Thanks again.

I still could use some help on the background problem if anyone is so inclined. Like I stated, a test page was able to display the background no problem...

www.dnabrewery.com/leagueboard/test.html

but the index page that the cgi script calls, which lies in the same directory will not display it. Arrrgh.

TIA again

Try putting the jpeg in your root folder (same as the dna gif) then refer to it as "/ChicagoBears.JPG" note the forward slash.

If that doesnt help is it possibly because of the file name (your server will be case sensitive).

edit: just noticed the link to the test page, my first suggestion above should fix it, its probably due to permissions in your cgi-bin folder.

Thanks again Perlyking. All is well at the DNAbrewery. For now at least.
