Do SE's Follow Links From Image Hotspots?

Do search engines follow the links from an image hotspot in the same way they follow the links from a piece of text?

Lets say I have a map image of the USA on the home page and Florida has a hotspot linking to the Florida info pages. Will search engines follow that link and crawl those Florida pages?

Yes, most search engines will follow links from image maps, as long they are not 100 % JavaScript call for a Pop-Up window.
