Using a link in a forum signature

Do SEs think it is good or bad?

Hi everyone,

A quick SEO question. I've noticed that a moderator on another forum has added a link to the forum's homepage in his signature. This means that every post he makes adds another link back to the homepage. As the domain name is made up of two different keywords (like this: www.foo-bar.com), these links are adding to the keyword saturation of the site.

Personally I consider this to be spam, but I was wondering if SEs would also see it as spam, or if they'd give the pages/site a better ranking because of the increased use of the keywords in link text.

I wouldn't call it and probably doesn't help much anyway. One thing I've noticed about alot of forum software is the actual threads are usually very deep in the directory structure ie: www.foobar.com/forums/forum4/thread.htm (or even worse). When you start getting that deep in the structure in insite links start to count for very little.
