Whatever happened to MS Smart Tags?

Is it still an issue? Should webmasters be worried about Smart Tags?

I saw this page recently

[killertacticsjournal.com...]

and realized I haven't heard much about Smart Tags recently. Should webmasters do something to protect themselves?

My hunch is that they're keeping a very low profile while the Gator lawsuit and their own anti-trust problems work themselves through the courts. I believe it's still embedded in MS Office (some MSO expert correct me, please), so there's a good chance that they expect it to work its way into acceptance.

Keep your eyes open, and -yes- I'd strongly consider building in the no smart tag code on any new work or refurbs.

I do believe that it is so.
