We've been talking a lot about Flash and appropriate uses for it.

I came acros a site today that I thought was a particularly nice use for Flash. It's very subtle, and effective.

I didn't design it, I have no interest in it, but I thought I'd pass it along. I'm not sure if the URL will remain here, but it's nice.

<update>
I opportunistically came across a book for flash and grabbed it in a sale. Like we said above, I didn't want the nursery version - past the basics and into the nitty gritty. The book was FLASH ADVANCED by Russell Chun (Visual Quickpro Guide) and I have to say it is totally what I was looking for.

It's particularly clever in that it's structured to work as a step by step tutorial AND as a reference. I'd recommend it for those who can get along with Flash (and you don't have to know much) but want to know the best way to do things.

Oh, and FlashKit recommended by Kris is fantastic too! Thanks Kris.

Too bad you have to got a fast internetconnection to view it. Otherwise you will see the loading-screen for an hour or two. :)

Looks nice, but that site is not marketable.

As it stands it is not SE friendly. With a few changes that wouldn't even change the look of the site it could be.

Frame the site, keep the Flash, utilize noframes and add a static link to a sitemap. I'd put the content in a layer, push it to the top of the code and put the sitemap link on every page. Add some header text, keywords in anchors, decent titles and some inbound links and Google would love it.

Would I recommend that design? No, drives the cost of SEO up. ;) Should it be penalized because the search engines can't cope with the technology? No.
