I've not seen this before:
I have links to some Excel files on a page..NN and Opera ask if I want to open them or save them to disk, IE6 asks for a Network Login and Password inside a box labelled "Transferring File". If I click 'cancel' it just opens the file using Excel. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm using simple <a href...> tags for each of them.

Microsoft has been integrating all of Office into IE. This is probably part of that same drive. Does Excel open in a separate window, or as part of the browser?

I was surprsied to see that downloaded .doc files now open Word as an integral part of the browser, just like .pdf files open Acrobat Reader. Only the Word implementation is buggier!

In IE6 Excel opens as part of the browser, like Acrobat. However, only after the whole login/password dealio....weird.
