No referral string in IE5.5

My forum checks the referral string before allowing a member to post a message. I have a member who is using IE5.5 but is not passing a referral string. I have checked the advanced options and security settings but cannot see where this option could be set. I have not found any reported bugs either.

Anyone got any ideas ?

There are plenty of third party software programs that act as a proxy which can block or modify several of the different headers that are sent in http requests. Some listed here:google search [google.com]

Either that, or they are using Opera with referral checking turned off.
Referral checking is always dicey - especially so in form critical work.

One other thing I thought of Mark, is that if they reload the page there is no telling if the referrer will still be correct. I've run into it a time or two before.
