Hello jonywinf and welcome to Webmaster World,

My first answer (and no, I'm not trying to be a wise guy) is that AOL users should open a Hotmail account for sending attachments to non-AOL friends and family.

This is one of many AOL frustrations I've heard of. Over the next few days I'll be visiting family who are on AOL and I plan to do some experimenting. If no one else has the answer by then, I'll give you a report on what I find.

tedster that was not a wiseguy answer...it was very good...and you are right they should use something else..lol...but if you ask any of the AOL users, it is those of us who do not use AOL that is at fault...lol...I have constantly told them that I can't get any of the jokes and whatnot that they send because of their inferior ISP...lol...well, if you do see something I would really appreciate it ..thanks for the reply

I once asked that question here, and have had that same problem. What I've found out is that with AOL users there is a special proprietary image compression not compatible with anyone else - it's the .art format. They have to go into their browsers and turn image compression off to send photos to anyone other than AOL users.

You can try the site search here, but that's about what it is. Not all of them end up figuring out how to do it.

Ah. If that's the problem, there is a thing you can install that will let IE deal with .art files. Go to [windowsupdate.com ] using IE. From there you can download the .art file processor thing.

Xoc that's exactly what I am looking for...a .art plugin to enable Outlook Express to show all AOL email messages from them...If you could provide the exact link to this file I would really appreciate it...tried searching at MS and either I am not asking the right question or for the right type of file...thanks

The only place I've ever seen it is at the WindowsUpdate link I gave above. You check the checkbox and it downloads and installs.
