Welcome to WebmasterWorld, abelp.

There are a lot of scripts to be found to do your own at CGI Resources [cgi-resources.com] and Hot Scripts [hotscripts.com] but if you want something simple and remotely hosted, the Yahoo Groups [yahoo.com] or Clubs have it all in one place. That's about the best way to do it all together.

Hope this helps.

hello marcia.
thanks for the quick answer.

the problem with the yahoo and some e-groups is that they use lots of ads, and with the CGI resource, the problem is with the scripts.

i've already tried some scripts but with no results.

but i'll continue to search for something easier and without ads!

thank you for your help,
abelp.

abelp, they have the advertising for revenue, which is basically why they offer the services free. If you have CGI available with your hosting, you might want to try some of the free scripts available. There are a lot for forums and message boards, as well as for mailing lists. Most are pretty easy to set up, too.

hi again marcia!

i've tryed formbuddy.com do you know this one?
i find them interesting, but i only got the popup ad window they said the subscriber will see, once. after several self-subscriptions i didn't got any of those popups!

can you make me a favour and register yourself in the following addresses?
<URLs snipped ~ Marcia>
none of these URLs are lucrative!
by the way why did you censured my other URLs? is it part of the webmaster world policy? sorry if it does, i wont post anymore of those sigs. can i post urls as i've posted for you in this one?

to subscribe the first url you just have to write your email in 15secs (the page will reload after the passes!!!)
for the second one you have to fill the 2 fields. the first (NOME-name), and the second (EMAIL), the third one is for mobile contact and isn't required, only if you want to.
both URLs are in portuguese language (PT).

thank you for all your help,
abelp.

abelp, it's never wise to sign up and give an email address with unknown sites, and as you said, they're not lucrative.

>my other URLs? is it part of the webmaster world policy?
Yes, it's in the Terms of Service (disclaimer):

(we do not allow sig file urls). Signing your name is fine

>post urls
There would be so many, that it's discouraged.

You've got mail - check the StickyMail, which is our local member-to-member mail system here. It's at the top center of the screen; you'll see a link.

If the language is Portuguese that you're looking for you might check some language specific directories or search engines for those. Otherwise, I think your best choice will be to use one like Yahoo's (which is excellent), with the advertising because that's how they can afford to provide the service for free, or install some simple scripts. In your place I think I'd go with what Yahoo has. I know several people who use it and it works very well.

Abelp, I recently installed a Discus forum from Discusware with good results. There is a free version that is very functional, and a paid version that offers additional features.

Two features that aren't in the free version are instant self-registration for new users and e-mail notification of posts. If you need these features, save some time and start off with the paid one.

There are tons of mailing list scripts, although ideally it would be good to have one that ties into the same database as your forum users (if you have a forum with registration) - that way, you don't have multiple databases that contain conflicting data, and users can update their info in one step.
