Burst and Banners vs ratings

I just signed up for Burst. People say they get around 400 dollars US a month.. Hmm Ok but question is that they want the banner in the first 10 links .. smart they are. Would this affect search engines spiders and rankings if they hit the banner first if on top of page and anyone know if it is really worth it. Any info is much apprciated before I yuk up my pages. Smiles

For all practical matters, the inclusion of the banner code should not harm your SE ranking.

As for banner placement being above the fold, Flycast requires that, too. I expect that's pretty much an industry standard.

I can't point to anything that would lead me to believe banners hurt. I think just the opposite. The se's reason that if a site is good enough to have banners from a major ad broker, that is an indication of quality.
