We have a new website and we want to start to build our traffic. We have many options.
I wanted to ask your advice regarding:
1. How and where can I get big traffic affiliates?
2. I read about the ebay advertisement, it sounds interesting [since this is the traffic I want] but I understand that there is a very low click rate. Can you give me additional input/suggestions?
3. Are there any potential partners here?
4. Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Itay
1. How and where can I get big traffic affiliates?
If you're looking specifically for "big traffic" affiliates, then you'll want to follow the traffic itself. Search Google for the keywords that your ideal customer is most likely to be searching for and see who the top ranked sites are. Anyone that is not a direct competitor has the potential for being an ideal affiliate partner, and in certain cases even "competitors" can be good candidates.
Next, approach the editors of newsletters that target your ideal audience.
Be sure that your program is listed in all of the major affiliate program directories, and submit your site for review to the ezines that are devoted to affilate marketing.
3. Are there any potential partners here?
From the WebmasterWorld Mission Statement [webmasterworld.com]:
We are here for members to discuss the process of doing business... We are not here to actually do business with one another.
In other words... WebmasterWorld is not an appropriate forum for publicly soliciting business partnerships. To allow that would compromise the integrity of the community by flooding it with such requests.
That said, if you participate actively, and read voraciously, I don't know of any other online community that can be of greater benefit to your bottom line. :)
4. Any other thoughts?
Actively seek out forums, discussion lists, and online communities devoted to your niche. Lurk first, then participate whenever possible, and use a signature file whenever they are acceptable.
As far as advertising goes, well executed Pay Per Click campaigns and ads placed in highly targeted ezines will in most cases produce a higher ROI than banner ads.
