Newbie here needs some help starting out making money with affiliates

I don't know what affiliate type program I should try

Hi, I am new at this, and I don't know what type of affiliate programs are the best. I need one that isn't too competitive, and won't cost to much for clicks. I also don't know what I should do as far as a website. I know how to build a website, and upload it, get it on the web, ect. I just don't know how much, and what type of information I should put on the website. If anyone has any suggestoins for me, I would greatly appreciate it!
